ABC’s “Private Practice” to feature a song from local songstress Sara Swenson

By Jenny Kratz

ABC’s hit series “Private Practice”, a spinoff of the medical romantic-dramedy “Grey’s Anatomy,” is one of a handful of shows on the air right now that typically features alternative, indie-based soundtracks. So it’s no surprise (though it’s certainly exciting!) that they picked up a track from local songstress Sara Swenson for the series’ season finale, which will air tomorrow night at 9 p.m.

The track — “Time to Go” off her 2010 album, All Things Big and Small — is a hauntingly beautiful but simple piece that features Swenson’s strong, pure vocals over a rolling, building guitar line. Swenson has gained local and national popularity with prominent stage appearances such as last year’s Lilith Fair with Emmylou Harris and Heart. I can’t say that I’ve personally been following “Private Practice,” but I can bet that the track will fit perfectly over a heartbreaking, pivotal moment in the season’s finale.

For more information, check out Swenson’s website, complete with a listening sample of the song. Catch “Time to Go” on “Private Practice” tomorrow night at 9 p.m. on ABC.
